KOSEN KMUTT
“Cultivating future engineers, technologists, and innovators, drawing in investment, and sharpening the competitive edge of the industrial sector in the region — via the implementation of KOSEN” In 2019, the Ministry of Education tasked the Office of Basic Education Commission (OBEC) and the Institute for the Promotion of Science and Technology Teaching (IPST) with the project entitled ‘Cultivating future engineers, technologists, and innovators, drawing in investment, and sharpening the competitive edge of the industrial sector in the region — via the implementation of KOSEN’ (aka the establishment of THAI-KOSEN. Given the aim of advancing the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), the project sets out to drive up the number of research and innovation engineers in Thailand’s industrial sector with the emphasis on increased commercial manufacturing, in line with the Thailand 4.0 roadmap. The project was established under the cooperation between Thailand and Japan to develop human resources by implementing the concepts of KOSEN; which denote a Japanese instructional strategy geared towards instilling necessary skills in those receiving training to become engineers,...

Junior Science Talent Project (JSTP)
“Identifying and nurturing talented children with strong abilities in STEM subjects to cultivate the next generation of scientists and researchers for Thailand's brighter future.” JSTP was founded with the objectives to scout, incubate, and foster secondary school students exhibiting exceptional aptitude and expressing an avid interest in STEM subjects. Once identified, these students are invited to enroll in training camps, research practices, as well as workshops on topics spanning scientific, social, artistic, and cultural nature to broaden their worldview and develop their research skills. Under the cross-cutting supervision of lecturers and researchers from a wide selection of universities and research institutes, JSTP students are given special guidance to steer their academic and personal growth in the hope that these bright young minds will become the future generation of Thailand’s outstanding scientists. JSTP is sponsored by the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA). Gifted Education Office (GEO)
King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) recognizes that each student possesses unique learning potential. However, the current classroom design does not adequately take this prevailing diversity into account. Course content and its delivery are typically designed to be of moderate difficulty, inadvertently catering to average students. This inclination toward one-size-fits-all education can hinder high-achieving students from realizing their full potential and may also result in students with special needs falling behind, potentially leading to their disengagement from the learning process. In light of the reasons mentioned above, KMUTT strives to create educational strategies that match each individual's abilities. One approach involves the establishment of an Honors Program, offering more advanced materials to students who are enthusiastic and inclined toward STEM subjects. This is complemented by careful guidance aimed at pushing their intellectual boundaries. On the other hand, supplementary foundation classes are provided for students who require extra academic support. Beyond specialized classrooms, it is essential not to neglect the development of students' soft skills. As a result, various learning...

Neuroscience Research
Neuroscience Center for Research and Innovation (NX)
“Center for multidisciplinary neuroscience research — for better understanding of the inner workings of the brain” Neuroscience Center for Research and Innovation (NX) is a hub for knowledge discovery, intellectual enrichment, and multidisciplinary research encompassing neurosciences, natural sciences, engineering, psychological sciences, and multimedia technology. NX's primary goal is to promote research across these disciplines to deepen our understanding of the complex machinery that is the human brain in terms of behavior, perception, memory, and learning. Most research projects at the center are conducted in collaboration with colleagues whose expertise lies in distinct fields and multi-sectoral organizations, including government, business, and industry. A better understanding of the brain will conceivably lead to improved diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases and translate to technological advancement that enhances learning and improves the quality of life. Center for Effective Learning and Teaching (CELT)
“Developing learning guidelines and fostering innovations in education to improve individuals' employability in science and technology as well as coaching them to become social change agents.” CELT, the Center for Effective Learning and Teaching, was established to provide assistance and impart learning and teaching skills to the KMUTT staff. CELT offers role-specific learning guidelines that are closely in line with KMUTT's vision. These guidelines place significant emphasis on enhancing the availability of skilled personnel in science and technology and on promoting individuals' awareness of their role as agents of social change. Additionally, the center works to instill ideals in the teaching and learning processes which, in essence, encourages innovations in lifelong learning. To fulfill our missions, CELT organizes various forms of activities, including training workshops, consultation sessions, and seminars. The center also builds a learning community for idea exchange concerning novel pedagogical techniques, provides an inclusive learning space, and spearheads innovations in education. Industrial Facilitator Development Program
The Industrial Facilitator Center aims to train industrial personnel to become lifelong learners. In particular, the program focuses on developing personalized learning approaches for working adult learners. These initiatives are designed to raise awareness of the need for organizations to adapt to keep pace with technological progress. Mission Cultivate the proficiency of auxiliary teachers via practical training programs. Recruit eligible auxiliary teachers to work with learners who are adults employed in the industrial sector. Recruit consultants with the knowledge and experience to address issues in the industrial sector. Serve as a consultant in designing learning activities suitable for learners who are adults employed in the industrial sector. Introduce new approaches to activity design on the topic of effective learning through support processes. Educational Research
Under this theme, the Learning Institute’s affiliates place an emphasis on outcome-based education. The research group focuses on studying the impact of training on the improvement of teaching competence and the professional development of educators. The researchers also conduct non-research academic work in relation to teaching support and micro-credentials. The topics of interest include developing protocols for studying the impact of teachers’ competence development and utilizing institutional-level data to enhance teaching and learning.

Neuroscience Research (NX)
KMUTT neuroscientists and researchers in related disciplines are gathered under the Neuroscience Center for Research and Innovation (NX). The NX center was established and is led by Dr. Sirawaj Itthiparupat with the focus on elucidating the mechanisms of the brain that support learning, attention, and memory in general and clinical populations, e.g., psychiatric or ADHD patients. The research makes use of a combination of neurophysiological methods, including EEG, fMRI, brain stimulation, psychophysics, eye tracking, and computational modeling, to address brain function-related challenges.
